What is Alpha?

Alpha is a social and fun dinner and group conversation series centered around exploring the big questions of life, spirituality, and faith from a Christian lens in a laid back and non-judgmental environment.

It’s for those who do not consider themselves Christians or for those who are rethinking their Christian faith. If you are curious, skeptical, or just have questions, bring them to Alpha and explore them with new friends and our group leaders!

There are no strings attached! Being critical and/or just curious about the Bible and Jesus is absolutely fine and ensures a lively debate.

It is a 7 week course with the possibility of continuing in smaller groups thereafter to explore more. You don’t need to follow all 7 evenings but it is recommendable as we explore a different topic each time we meet.

Each Alpha evening features a 25 minute film. Designed to inspire more questions than provide answers. These short films explore the big issues around faith and unpack the basics of Christianity, addressing questions such as Who is Jesus? and How can we have faith?

Discuss the questions that matter to you
The entire evening/night builds towards this: after the film we’ll break into discussion groups where you can share your thoughts about faith and life and hear from others in your group. You can feel free to say whatever you like or as little as you like, it’s up to you. *We observe a hard stop at 19.30 to respect your time

Why should I join?

You should join if you have decided that exploring faith is important to you. If you have decided that getting a more informed opinion of the big questions of life is relevant to you.

Questions such as “Why am I here?”, “What happens after death?”, “Which values should I follow?”, “Will faith give me hope?” and several other central questions which you have decided are too important not to have an opinion about.

Who we are

The course is hosted by Kirken i Kulturcenteret, which is a local church in Nørrebro. Alpha itself originates from London, and so far 22 mio. people have attended Alpha courses around the world. In Denmark 160 churches have held an Alpha course and more than 10 courses have been held at Kirken i Kulturcenteret with great success.
